Plenty of doctors in the house at Converge, in Lincoln Park

Ever wonder how some people get the heads-up on a new development long before the rest of us (aside from those with family or friends in the business)? To close some early sales and create a buzz around a project, some developers conduct what’s called a “whisper campaign.”

For instance, the developer of Converge, the Lincoln Park project we told you about yesterday, rang the human resources department of the Children’s Memorial Hospital in Lincoln Park and offered employees 50 percent off the price of a parking space if they bought a unit at the five-story Converge before sales opened to the general public. Within a week, two doctors had signed on the dotted line, according to a spokesman for Peak Construction Development.

In fact, four of the 16 condos already have been snapped up at Converge, which is situated on land that was once occupied by a bar.
