Printers Row Farmers Market – where have all the flowers gone?

If you’ve visited more than a few of Chicago’s so-called farmers markets, you know the odds are you’ll see few, if any, farmers at most of them. You’ll find a better selection of fresh fruits and vegetables at your local 7-11 than you will at some of the city’s farmers markets.

Given the density of Printers Row and the South Loop, I naively expected a more robust farmers market than many I’ve seen, and headed there to check it out last Saturday morning.

The Printers Row Farmers Market isn’t at Dearborn and Polk, where it’s advertised to be. It’s a block north on Dearborn. And it isn’t what it was advertised to be at the City’s official tourism site, at the Greater South Loop Association, and at the Lofts at Roosevelt Collection blog (pictured). There were, at most, two farmers. On the plus side, it was easy to find a parking space, and it wasn’t crowded.
