(Re)designing the Winthrop Club

by Joseph Askins on 10/29/09

FitzGerald Associates‘ first design for the Winthrop Club was a brick tower inspired by the architectural styles of the late 1800s, says Winthrop Properties co-principal Bob Horner. Obviously, that’s not the building that stands at 1570 Elmwood Ave in Evanston today. Horner, his partner Ibrahim Shihadeh, and FitzGerald principal Michael DeRouin talked about the Winthrop Club’s design and redesign during a media tour of the 15-story high-rise last week.
