Rent or buy at the Sexton Lofts

Over the summer I noted the relative lack of rental options in River North’s loft buildings, and pointed to a 1,750 square-foot unit at Sexton Lofts, 360 W Illinois St, which, at $3,800 a month, represented the high end of the neighborhood’s loft rental market.

Six months later, lofts are a little easier to find. At Sexton Lofts alone, four units are listed as rentals. Of those, three are also listed for sale. And as of last week, that aforementioned 1,750 square-foot unit, now priced for $100 less, is no longer the most expensive unit around — a 2,300 square-foot unit located on the building’s ninth floor is now available for $5,000 a month.
