Renting from site signs – DePaul edition

by Joe Zekas on 8/2/12

The most desirable apartments often rent quickly from site signage without ever being posted on Craigslist or being listed with one of Chicago’s sleazy apartment rental services.

You can spend an hour driving yourself crazy and risking your financial health searching Craigslist for your next apartment, or you can spend less time driving yourself around your target neighborhood looking for FOR RENT signs and get a much better result. Unlike Craigslist ads, you’ll know exactly where the property is and what the immediate neighborhood is like.

I wasn’t apartment hunting yesterday while in the DePaul / Ranch Triangle area, but it was hard to miss the sign at 1830 N Sheffield. I visited the website, then called the number on the sign and spoke with Meredith, who advised me that the apartment is still available.

Meredith also alerted me to a 2-bedroom, 2-bath on the third floor of a 3-unit building at 2029 N Kenmore that will be available for October 1st occupancy. The unit is reported to have an extra-large master bedroom, a large back deck, hardwood floors, stainless steel appliances, basement storage and a garage parking space. The rent is $3,200 a month.
