River North’s best apartment towers – public transit access

Earlier posts in our series on the best apartment towers in River North spotlighted the buildings with the best views and the most convenient grocery shopping.

Our topic today is access to public transit. We’re aware that some of you consider taxis and limos the only acceptable form of public transit, but our focus is on the CTA’s buses and trains.

If you’re commuting to the Loop, you can’t beat the outside-the-front-door access to the CTA’s Red Line enjoyed by residents of Grand Plaza. The #65 Grand Ave bus connects westbound to the Blue Line to O’Hare Airport and, a block south of the building, travels east through Streeterville to Navy Pier. You can also ride the Red Line to a Blue Line connection to O’Hare and an Orange Line connection to Midway Airport.

Asbury Plaza, The Bernardin and One Superior Place are all within a short block of the Chicago Ave Red Line station.

For reverse commuters to Evanston or to the western parts of the Loop, EnV takes top rank with Purple and Brown Line stops across the street at the Merchandise Mart. Renters on a tighter budget who need Brown or Purple Line access might opt for Asbury Plaza.
