Earlier posts in our series on the best apartment towers in River North concentrated on their location. We spotlighted the buildings with the best views, the most convenient grocery shopping, the best access to retail shops, public transit, parks and beaches , the expressway grid, the most nearby dining and nightlife, and the shortest walking distance to the Loop.
We then shifted focus to the buildings themselves, beginning with affordability, the topic that’s top-of-mind with many renters, and moving on to the best building amenities, boutique ambiance, and the most pet-friendly environment.
In our final group of posts, we turned our attention to the apartments, beginning with the best apartment finishes and features, private outdoor space, studio / convertible and one-bedroom floor plans.
We factored affordability into account in selecting the best studio / convertible and one-bedroom floor plans, and we’re doing the same with two bedrooms, capping the rent at $3,800 a month.
We started by excluding two-bedrooms that didn’t have all of the following features: an in-unit washer / dryer, private outdoor space, a split-bedroom floor plan, a master suite with its own bath and walk-in closet, and at least one bath with a stall shower. We also excluded one-off units and units that are rarely available.
Our best-of-River-North choice is the 1,223 square foot “12” plan at Hubbard Place. When we checked, a few days ago, rents on available units ranged from $3,583 for a 10th floor unit to $3,702 for one on the 42nd floor, based on a 16-month lease.
What we liked about these apartments is the curved wall of windows in the living area that explodes the views, the window and double-bowl vanity in the master bath, the well-defined dining area, and the oversized shower in the second bath. As a bonus, Hubbard Place has an over-the-top amenities package.
