We’ll let you in on a little secret: the shopping on Michigan Avenue is a big draw for the out-of-town homebuyer looking for a Chicago pied-a-terre. “We had a number of people buying second homes at Avenue East,” says Equity Marketing Services‘ CEO Herb Emmerman, “because that was a nice shopping area for them. I think location is the primary driver [in choosing a second home], and then price, and then product, in that order.”
Avenue East — located at 160 E Illinois St, just off the Ave. — still has 14 condos available, and prices range from the $550s to the $980s. The building also will have 10,000 square feet of retail space. The 27-story high-rise has been topped off, and most of the windows have been applied.
