The Shops and Lofts at 47

A spring 2008 groundbreaking is planned for The Shops and Lofts at 47 (pdf), which will stretch along Cottage Grove Avenue from 47th to 48th streets. Mahogany Chicago 47, LLC, a joint venture of Skilken and TROY Enterprises, both based in Columbus, Ohio, will build about 170 residential units and 50,000 square feet of ground-floor retail. More retail and offices may occupy the flex space on the second floor. The project is designed by Ford & Associates Architects.

The Shops and Lofts at 47 is one of five mixed-use projects slated for The Grove, a shopping district planned along Cottage Grove Avenue, according to Bernita Johnson-Gabriel of Quad Communities Development Corp., which is working in community partnership with the developers.

Good Looker! I hope that is going to be actual stone on the base though and not just the digital renderer taking liberties.

It’s amazing how much development will inevitably be coming to the South Side. Exciting times.
