You’ll see quite a few ads at Craigslist for apartment leasing openings with leasing and management companies that go unnamed in the ad. You’ll also see ads from unnamed brokerage firms seeking to hire brokers.
The Illinois Real Estate License Act requires licensed rental services and brokers to disclose their name in that type of help wanted ad.
The firm that placed the ad is either ignorant of its legal obligations or, more likely, willfully ignoring them. Do you want to work for a company that broke the law in hiring you? Are you naïve enough to believe that the firm otherwise operates ethically and legally and that you won’t be tainted by going to work for it?
