Similar asks, different answers in Logan Square

Five years ago we focused our attention on two single-family homes that were under construction over a mile apart at 1838 and 2738 N Fairfield in Logan Square.

The homes offered similar interior finishes and were on standard city lots. The 5-bedroom, 3 ½ bath home at 1838 N Fairfield had an asking price of $857,900 and the 4-bedroom, 3 ½ bath home at 2738 N Fairfield was asking $799,000.

The first home, 1838, sold for $790,000 in February of 2008. The second, 2738, lingered on the market until October of 2010 when it closed for $475,000 according to public records and $547,500 according to the MLS listing.
