Start your July 1 apartment search now

Savvy Chicago renters know that the best apartments rent quickly and are rarely available to last-minute lookers.

Major management companies have already sent out their July 1 renewal notices and know what they’ll have available to rent for that date. If you’re looking to move on July 1, the time to start your search is now. Rental services will tell you it’s too early, but that advice is in their interest, not yours.

Planned Property Management, for example, just notified me that all of its lease renewals are in for July 1 and the company’s leasing agents are renting apartments for July 1 occupancy.

Planned Property, which is one of YoChicago’s advertisers, owns and manages nearly 4,000 apartments in prime River North, Gold Coast, Lincoln Park and Lakeview East locations. Walk-ins are welcome at its leasing office at 806 W Belmont, and at seven of its high-rise properties: The Chicagoan, 55 West Chestnut, 1000 North LaSalle, 1120 North LaSalle, 1111 North Dearborn, 1133 North Dearborn and 3130 North Lake Shore Drive.

Planned Property offers renters a credit of up to $300 on their first month’s rent when they book an appointment online.

No appointment is necessary at almost all of Chicago’s high-rise apartment buildings, but it’s a good idea to check on the building websites or call ahead to verify rent and availability information.
