State & Chestnut tower topped out, pre-leasing in January

The skies were dark with clouds when I rode the construction elevator to the 30th floor of State & Chestnut last Friday. The 35-story, 367 unit tower is topped out, but I opted not to climb five construction ladders to the top floor.

The building will have good views to the south and west when more of the skyline is visible through the clouds, and dramatic views of the Hancock to the east.

Lower floors are roughed in and kitchens and baths were being installed at the time of my visit. The openness of the 30th floor makes it clear that columns aren’t going to complicate furniture placement as they do in many high-rises.

Floor plans are now available at the building’s website and pricing is being finalized. A leasing office is nearing completion around the corner on Rush St, and pre-leasing will begin in mid-January for June occupancy. The leasing office will showcase kitchens, baths and apartment finishes.
