Storage warehouse up for auction near Humboldt Park

by Mark Dalton on 6/6/07

Midway Moving and Storage, 2727 W Chicago Ave

We can only guess that this warehouse at 2727 W Chicago Ave – formerly the site of Midway Moving and Storage – is primed to become greater West Town’s newest loft development. The building is a whopping 100,000 square feet of raw space that the Sheldon Good Brokerage will be auctioning off July 1, 2007, according to the company’s Web site – which refers to the site as a “spectacular residential development opportunity.”

There is no word on where the bidding will start, but it’s certain to be high. There is so much residential development in this corner of the city that healthy businesses are now starting to take root. Neighborhood staples like the California Clipper, Black Beetle and Humboldt Pie are now joined by Continental, Feed and Maiz, along with a plant nursery and several gallery spaces.

Did this auction ever take place? I tried checking the Sheldon Good website and there was no record of this property. I live in the area so I’d be interested to know if anything will become of the Midway warehouse.
