Streeterville’s best apartments – Studio / convertible floor plan

Earlier posts in our series on the best Streeterville apartments focused on location. We spotlighted the buildings with the best views and most convenient access to grocery shopping, bars and restaurants, retail shops, public transportation, parks and beaches and the expressway grid, and the shortest walk to the Loop.

We then switched from location to the buildings themselves, focusing on affordability, building amenities, boutique ambiance and pet-friendliness.

In our final group of topics, we spotlight the apartments themselves, beginning with the best apartment finishes and features and private outdoor space.

Square footage doesn’t tell you much of anything about how well an apartment space functions. A small, well-conceived space can live better than a larger one with space that doesn’t contribute to livability. Having an optimal layout is critical when you’re renting a studio or convertible apartment.

The contenders for best studio / convertible floor plans are convertible apartments at Cityfront Place and Streeter Place.

Both buildings offer convertibles with a semi-private sleeping space that will prove attractive to couples or singles who want to entertain at home. Convertibles in both buildings also have good storage space, although Cityfront Place’s two walk-ins are hard to match. Streeter Place convertibles have superior finishes and an in-unit washer / dryer.

The rent differential between the two buildings – Streeter Place commands a substantial premium – may be the deciding factor for many renters.
