Studio Dwell's fraternal twins

1919 West Crystal 155 North Aberdeen

When they’re completed, I’ll be interested to see if these two Studio Dwell-designed developments look as similar as they do in these renderings. It’s more the color and material palette than the actual design of the buildings that makes them look similar, but I still feel sort of cross-eyed after looking at these side-by-side for a few minutes.

The one on the left is 1919 West Crystal, RMR Group’s nine-unit building in Wicker Park comprised mostly of duplexes, while the one on the right is 155 North Aberdeen, Utopian Properties’ 12-unit condo development in the West Loop. Both buildings are currently under construction, and although they’re being backed by different developers, Elizabeth August from @properties is handling sales for both.

The parallels don’t end there: About half of the units in both 1919 West Crystal and 155 North Aberdeen have been sold, and construction should be completed on both buildings in the fall, according to August.

One two-bedroom / two-bathroom condo is available in 155 North Aberdeen that’s listed in the $470s, and the remaining units are three-bedrooms that top out in the $950s. Price points for the two- and three-bedroom duplexes in 1919 West Crystal are in the $650s to the $790s.
