Suburban single-family home has 70-acre yard

Harvard estate

In response to our post on a super-sized Lake View house going for just less than $3 million, Yo reader anon commented, “For that kind of money, I want a LAWN, not an alley!” Well, anon, we’ve stumbled across an abode that may be worth your $3 million (actually it’s about $3.2, but what’s a couple hundred thou when you’re dealing in those numbers?). Head on out to Harvard, last stop on the Metra’s Northwest Line, to find this 13,000-square-foot Georgian stone home on 70 acres of wooded farmland. How’s that for a lawn? For the money, you could get a full floor at 50 East Chestnut, but we’re betting they don’t allow horses up there. The estate was built in 2003 and has a four-car garage, an outdoor pool and hot tub, a 1,600-square-foot pool house with two bedrooms, a green house and two heated barns with 32,000 square feet and 49 horse stalls between them. The estate, located at 11011 Knickerbocker Rd, is listed by Ronda Fish with Sudler Sotheby’s International Realty.
