Sunday, Sunday, the little bastards fun day

And where else would ye be takin’ the green-clad lads and lassies today than to the 28th Annual South Side Irish Saint Patrick’s Day Parade? They’re never too young to learn the joys of outdoor boozing. And they may surprise you with how clearly they can say “designated driver, daddy.”

Give the wee ones the old Irish blessing: May the sun shine warm upon your face. May the Lord hold you in the palm of his hand, and never close his fist too tight.

The event is free and starts at noon. The parade route: Western Avenue, from 103rd to 115th Streets, in Chicago’s Beverly neighborhood.

Metromix has a good guide if you’d rather pay a few bucks and travel to the parade on a booze bus. The photo above is linked from the Metromix St Patrick’s day photo gallery.
