Testing some white paint on Silver Tower

by mark boyer on 4/21/09

Silver Tower, 303 W Ohio St, River North, Chicago

Joe took advantage of some clear sight lines while we were showing ourselves around Superior 110 on Friday and snapped this photo of Silver Tower, which is currently under construction at 303 W Ohio St. In the original Hartshorne Plunkard renderings, the parts of the building that aren’t glass had a sort of metallic appearance, but now, judging from the white spots on the top and middle of the building, it looks like the cement will get a coat of white paint.

A furnished model is set to open in Silver Tower next month, and first closing are scheduled to begin in June.

This will change the entire look of this building. Not sure if it’s for the good. It’s going to be interesting to see how buyers react to this potential change.

Wish they would leave it exposed concrete. Case and point is the clunker bunker behind it at Grando/Orleans seen here over Silver Tower’s right shoulder.

Does the top of this building seem whimpy compared to the rendering? Some concrete VE?

Have a weekend place at the “clunker bunker” and have been watching the Silver. Today, for the first time we have seen on the weekend, there are lots of workmen. They appear to be putting a covering on what we guess is the large terrace for a community room.
