Earlier this afternoon I spent over an hour at a newly-listed home at 1418 Elmwood Ave in Wilmette.
Cliff Breslow and Linda Martin of Coldwell Banker were hosting an open house at the 4-5 bedroom, 4 ½ bath home, which is priced at $1,047,000. I’ll have video from the home up later this week.
A steady stream of buyers came and went during my visit. They were mostly young couples with pre-school children, up from the city or already living in Wilmette in rented homes.
It was the busiest open house I’ve seen on the North Shore in several years. How did people learn about the open house? Redfin was the most common answer. It’s a site I’ve mentioned favorably (the site, as distinguished from the brokerage) in my guide to Web sites for Chicago new home buyers.
Was the surge of buyer interest I saw today representative of the broader market?
