The Calumet / Giles / Prairie District: Old rowhomes and new condos

The 3100 to 3500 blocks of South Calumet, Giles, and Prairie avenues are lined with a mix of rowhomes dating back to the late 1800s and relatively new infill condos and single-family homes. After checking out the Frank Lloyd Wright-designed Roloson Houses and some of the other classic rowhomes on Calumet, Mark and I jumped into our car and drove the other two streets.

The only new construction homes we saw for sale in the Calumet / Giles / Prairie District were at Landmark Square, Ferro DiPiazza’s multi-phased condo / townhome / single-family home project planned for the 3300 blocks of Giles and Prairie avenues and the small stretch of 33rd Boulevard that runs between them. So far, the development is little more than a couple of six-flats, one of which still has three two-bedrooms left at prices ranging from the $280s to $300s and a single four-bedroom duplex listed in the $380s.
