The Catalina drops the name, rises from the deadpool

The name Catalina resonates with people of a certain age, summoning memories of the Four Preps and the “island of romance.”

People of that age, however, were unlikely to be the target demographic for The Catalina, a 12-unit condo development at 2524 – 2530 N Ashland Ave in Lincoln Park.

We first wrote about the project nearly four years ago, when 2-bedroom, 2-bath units were priced from the $480s to $490s and 3-bedroom duplexes were asking from the $690s to the $770s. We followed up four months later with a post on price reductions, and again in May of 2009 after the project went into foreclosure.

The developer, Chicago Graystone, has since imploded, and a new owner took over the project two years ago.

Three units in the project, which appears to have abandoned the Catalina moniker, have just been listed for sale. Unit 2N at 2530 N Ashland, a 2-bedroom, 2-bath, is priced at $374,000. Unit 3S, a 3-bedroom, 2 ½ bath duplex, is listed at $609,000. Unit 1N at 2524 N Ashland, a 3-bedroom, 3-bath duplex, is priced at $569,000.
