The ceremonial groundbreaking for a new Loop high-rise

It’s often the case that the ceremonial groundbreaking for a new high-rise takes place well after construction has begun.

Site work at 73 East Lake St in Chicago’s Loop started several months ago. The tower crane was in place and the building was rising out of the ground during what M&R Development’s Anthony Rossi jokingly referred to as the “above-groundbreaking” this morning.

When complete, the 42-story tower will host 332 rental apartments and a full complement of amenities.
