The daily news: "Elegant" single-family short sale in Bucktown relisted at $2.1 million

1734 W Wabansia AveToday’s new listing comes to us straight outta south central Bucktown. This 4,758 square-foot single-family home went up a couple year ago on a double lot at the corner of Wabansia and Hermitage avenues, and it’s been on the MLS for most of the time since. Trulia says it was listed earlier this month for $2.79 million. It dropped off around June 15 and reappeared yesterday with a $2.1 million asking price and a new “short sale” tag.

Christine Kosibia’s listing describes the five-bedroom / 4.5-bath home at 1734 W Wabansia Ave as “elegant,” working in mentions of its vaulted ceilings, master suite with wood-burning fireplace, wine cellar, cedar sauna, workout room, three-car heated garage, and elevator. It has a floating walnut staircase, marble and hardwood floors, walnut kitchen cabinets, and radiant floor heat. Judging from the accompanying pictures, the home is also rich in wood detail, and at least some of its living areas are joined by archways.

The home’s 2008 property taxes came out to more than $14,300.
