The drawing board: The next wave of downtown towers

171 North Wabash, ChicagoIf you really want to stay on top of building proposals, you should spend more time at the SkyscraperPage forum, where architecture buffs routinely uncover and share the latest renderings from firms’ websites and friends within the industry. Those “new” images of One South Halsted I posted last week? Yeah, those were old news to these boarders.

A couple weeks ago, Crain’s listed nine downtown rental projects that were either under construction, about to break ground, or in the process of securing financing. Readers at SkyscraperPage responded by rounding up renderings of six of those towers. I’d seen some before, but others were new to me, and they may be new to you, too. To the right is 171 North Wabash, RMK’s 321-unit proposal; click here to see the rest.
