The end of YoChicago’s Chicago Real Estate News page

by Joe Zekas on 6/20/13

For several years now we’ve brought you categorized links to real estate and neighborhood news stories from 100s of local, regional and national news sources on our Chicago Real Estate News page.

The page was made possible by Google Reader. We “tagged” news items, and Reader generated an RSS feed from each tag. We surfaced those feeds as categories on our Chicago Real Estate News page. It was a wonderfully simple and efficient way to scan nearly 1,000 items a day and make the most relevant items available to our readers.

Google Reader is passing into history at the end of this month, and the Chicago Real Estate News page will be retired at the end of this week.

Beginning next week, we’ll publish a weekly summary of the top real estate and neighborhood stories and features. We’ll also alert you to interesting items at other sites throughout the week.

This stinks! I know now why so many friends were upset about Google shutting down Reader. I have enjoyed viewing your news feed page and having my own blog linked there for several years.
