Once we’d decided that our little condo was not to be, we started looking around at other options, and had a rethink about the kind of place we wanted to live in. What if we gave up on the lake and shifted a little inland to look for an affordable single-family home? It’s obvious we don’t really warm to the whole idea of communal living, so can we find an affordable home, with a yard, that satisfies my need for space and my husband’s yearning to be reasonably close to the Loop?
