The high-rise you won't see in the West Loop

Here is a glimpse at a high-rise design that you won’t see in the West Loop. It’s The Pickus Companies’ rendering for its two-tower 155-foot development on the site of a former Federal Express facility at 1260 W Madison St. Last week the city told the developer to go back to the drawing board after the resident group the West Loop Community Organization objected to the height and density of the project.

WLCO supports denser and taller developments east of halsted Street and along the perimeter of the Eisenhower Expressway but is opposed to projects higher than 115 feet in the neighborhood west of Halsted. The developer hoped to woo residents who would like to see more convenience retail in the neighborhood by providing about 50,000 square feet of commercial space
