The highs and lows of renting in Lincoln Park

If Lincoln Park seems to have it all in terms of proximity to the lake and downtown, loads of cool shops and restaurants, and even a free zoo, it also has it all in terms of who lives there. From young professionals to college students to families, you’ll find a wide array of people renting in this neighborhood. So what are they paying in rent? Here are some of the highs and lows of renting in Lincoln Park.

Studios in Lincoln Park range from roughly $575 to $850 a month, depending mainly on how many square feet you need to set up house and how close to the edge of the LP you’re willing to live. There are studios available at 444 W St James Place for $690, which seems to be the going rate for a studio in the neighborhood. Different floor plans are offered, but one common feature is fantastic, walk-in closets (cute wicker baskets not included).

Things get a bit more tricky when you start looking at one-, two- and three-bedroom apartments. You can find a one bedroom for as cheap as $850 or well beyond $1,200, while three-bedrooms can run anywhere from $1,025 for very student-focused apartments to $3,000 and higher if you are looking for something more luxurious. This three-bedroom at 536 W Deming Place, (see exterior photo), includes a rooftop deck, study, sun room, chef’s kitchen and loads of other goodies. The unit will set you back $2,850 a month, but at least you get to call it a penthouse pad.Are you renting in Lincoln Park? Have you found something cooler, or a better bargain?
