The Northwest Side’s new high end

6751 N Edgebrook Terrace, Chicago

Back in October, I noted that the only home west of Western Avenue priced above $2 million was a nearly new mansion in Irving Park. That home recently dropped below the $2 million mark (more on that later today), but even if it hadn’t, it would still run second to this new listing in Wildwood.

The five-bedroom / six-bath mansion at 6751 N Edgebrook Terrace was listed in late February for $2.5 million. It might have been listed for more at one point — Redfin shows it going on and off the market regularly from May 2008 to May 2010, but no pricing info from that time is available.

The home, built in 2005, is on a cul-de-sac and overlooks the Caldwell Woods to the southwest. The listing from Realtor Adela Rus of Century 21 McMullen says the home has 7,500 square feet plus a 1,380 square-foot basement, a grand foyer with a mosaic floor and alabaster chandeliers, a huge master suite, five fireplaces, an elevator, a media room, surround sound throughout, ceiling heights of 12 to 26 feet, 8’6″ mahogany doors, steam showers and a sauna, a patio with a grill, a brick-paved driveway, a three-car attached garage, and a surveillance system.

2009 taxes are $14,452.

Five single-family homes on the Northwest Side (north of North and west of Western) have sold for $2 million or more in the past five years, according to Redfin.
