The South Loop’s best apartments – Most convenient grocery shopping

The first post in our series on the best South Loop apartments spotlighted the buildings with the best views.

We recognize that some of you are indifferent to proximity to grocery stores because you do most of your shopping online via Peapod, or rely on Whole Foods’ personal shopper / delivery service – or eat out or order in for almost all of your meals.

If convenient grocery shopping is a high priority for you, the “best” South Loop apartment tower may depend on your preferred shopping venue.

Three buildings have the closest proximity to the variety of grocery shopping options on and just off Roosevelt Road: Park Michigan, 1130 South Michigan and Sky55.

Trader Joe’s and Jewel-Osco are a short block west of the buildings.

Target and Whole Foods are a bit further west along Roosevelt Rd.

There are also several convenience stores in the immediate area, including one in the building at Sky55.

This video tour of a Mariano’s store with pastry chef Sarah Jordan is a good glimpse into why the chain has been generating a lot of buzz. The building closest to the new South Loop Mariano’s on Clark St, 1401 South State, also has decent proximity to Jewel, Trader Joe’s and Target.
