Earlier this afternoon I toured Brinshore Development‘s Hairpin Lofts, 2800 N Milwaukee Ave, in Logan Square. I’ll post video within a few days, but wanted to share some of the views and some first impressions.
You have to love Chicago’s six-corner intersections. They’re alive and interesting in ways that humble the lowly 4-corner variety, and they open sweeping vistas of the city.
The intersection of Milwaukee, Diversey and Kimball offers great skyline and neighborhood views. It has the added advantages of a corner park, striking architecture on several of its corners, a relatively thriving retail and dining scene, and great proximity to CTA buses and the Logan Square Blue Line station.
Everything about Hairpin Lofts exceeded my expectations. The landmark building has been beautifully renovated. The affordable artist live / work rentals have high ceilings, hardwood floors, large windows, excellent closet space and are entirely new. The corner triangle units are dramatic.
The entire second floor of the building is a flexible community space that also includes performance spaces with theatrical lighting. Other common areas include a second-floor roof deck, a huge, highly-functional bike / storage room, an exercise room, laundry and another community / play space.
Some of the units are available to residents who meet income-eligibility requirements and others are market rentals.
