Name the nabe with the wall of water

Posted 7/18/2008 by yo.chicago

Come sail away...

Not very many people outside of Chicago think of it as a "water city." That's a shame since we have the nation's largest municipal harbor system. Be the first to name the neighborhood of this lazy helmsman and win a ladies' Yo t-shirt or a Yo yo-yo.

Most people I've met outside of Chicago - and that's a lot of people - associate the city with water.

The annual hoopla surrounding our green river on St Patrick's day anchors (pun intended) the water meme. The Water Tower is a widely known symbol of the city. During Council Wars we were known as Beirut on the Lake and everyone knows Lake Michigan and the story of the river's reversal.

How many Chicago-based movies have featured the lake and the river? How many iconic photographs of our skyline are lake and river based? And Buckingham Fountain and Lake Shore Drive and Marina City?

It looks like the viaduct mural on N. Pulaski, between Cortland and Wabansia. Hermosa bordering Humboldt Park.
