River West loft-style condos start in the $100s
Posted 11/29/2006 by JoelIt's not the easiest building to get to, but we braved road construction on Milwaukee Avenue to take a look at Current Development Corporation's Willard Court Loft Condominiums, tucked away at 949 N Willard Ct in River West. The new-construction building has 20 condos ranging from studios to three bedrooms with "lofty" features like 11- to 12-foot ceilings and some exposed brick and ductwork. Prices range from the $100s to the $300s. Just so you have all the facts, click through to check out the dynamite view from the west-facing balconies. ![]()

Architecturally Bankrupt
How unfortunate that this is what a developer thinks is acceptable design. But then again, six are sold and four are pending, that is half of the building. I guess some people don't really care what they live in as long as it has 42" cabinets, granite countertops and stainless steel appliances.

hat really bugs me are the tiny port-hole windows. What's the point of a 'loft' space with tiny windows?

I think the building itself is hideous…. and maybe it doesn't have the best location… but this neighborhood will be very hot in 10 years.

What a joke! I can't believe that this building was even built. Half the building is sold? I wonder how many were purchased by 'investors'. Or, regarding the tenants who actually plan to live there, I wonder how many have 100% LTV mortgages w/ payment options, interest only ARMs with a teaser interest rate?
I think this building is a very ominous sign that the Chicago condo market is going to crash and burn. That's just my two cents.

exactly - they don't care that anyone passing the building wants to vomit, as long as a few creature comforts are part of the deal.

These were built in 2002? 2003? and gone back to the bank at least once, so I think someone's learned a lesson.
