Tour nine modern homes in Chicago and suburbs this Saturday

The modern home tour showcases the interiors and exteriors of seven Chicago homes and one each in Inverness and Hinsdale. The homes will be open this Saturday, June 23, from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tickets are $25 in advance or $30 on the day of the tour. A promotional code available at Modern Chicago Homes, one of the tour’s sponsors, reduces the cost of an advance-purchase ticket to $20.

One of the homes on the tour, 871 Braeburn in Inverness, was featured in a Dennis Rodkin video (above) and Chicago Magazine article more than two years ago, when the home was listed for sale at $1.6 million – down from $3.9 million.

The asking price is currently $599,000, but less land is included than when the price was much higher.

Since the time of Rodkin’s video, it appears that many of the exposed brick walls in the home have been painted white. It might be worthwhile to explore the reasons for that. A symbolic statement of “white elephant” is probably not the reason. The kitchen also appears to have been redone.

Two other homes on the tour are also listed for sale: 1614 N Wolcott and 1625 N Wolcott in Bucktown.
