Touring a West Loop ho-ho-home

by Joseph Askins on 12/11/09

With Hanukkah and Christmas right around the corner, people often consider this a hibernation period for the real estate market, but I met one agent who was making the most of the holiday season. Armando Chacon of Century 21 SGR threw a combination Christmas party / open house last night at 100 S Sangamon St in the West Loop in hopes of selling off unit #3N, the building’s only unsold unit. Chacon lives on the building’s first floor, and guests were welcome to trek up to the condo between drinks.

The 1,850 square-foot three-bedroom / two-bath home is priced in the $590s. The rest of the building’s homes sold from the $550s to the $700s and closed in September and October.

After our tour, I talked to Armando about the West Loop market and how this year’s activity stacked up to 2008. Check back in the coming days to hear his comments.
