Touring Beverly and Morgan Park, Part I

by Joseph Askins on 12/3/09

Two years ago, Joe Zekas shared footage of a leisurely Saturday drive through North Beverly on our YouTube channel. YoChicago hasn’t paid many visits to Beverly or its neighbor to the south, Morgan Park, since that time. I remedied that yesterday morning when I met up with Marcia Walsh, the coordinator of economic development at the Beverly Area Planning Association, for a drive around both neighborhoods.

Marcia and I started off by traversing some of the residential streets of Morgan Park, a place where the city’s grid system simply disappears in a tangle of curves and slopes. We then turned north onto Western Avenue, one of the main commercial corridors for both Morgan Park and Beverly.

Check back throughout the rest of this week and next week for more footage from our tour.
