Sales of new homes fell 6.4 percent in July to a seasonally-adjusted annual rate of 1.134 million units, down from a revised June rate of 1.211 million, according to the U.S. Commerce Department. The decline, which brought sales to their slowest pace of the year, was lower than analysts had predicted.
