West Town short sale starting a grand below ’07 sale price

2208 W Huron St

Remember, “short sale” doesn’t always equal “fire sale.” The single-family home at 2208 W Huron St in West Town (the one on the left in the picture above) came on the market yesterday at $1,299,000, just $1,000 less than for what it sold almost exactly three years earlier. At that price, it’s still above the median price (and not too far below the average price per square foot) for West Town homes built in ’07 or later.

The 4,215 square-foot, four-bedroom / three-bath home has a metal, limestone, and glass exterior, 10-foot ceiling heights, floor-to-ceiling windows, a wood-burning fireplace, 4-inch ebony bamboo floors, a custom staircase, an island kitchen with 1.25-inch granite countertops and frosted-glass cabinets, baths with stone and mosaic finishes and Grohe fixtures, two laundry rooms, and decks atop the roof and two-car garage. 2008 taxes were $7,512.

The for-sale sign in the picture probably dates back to 2009 — the home was listed from March 3 to April 10 and again from May 14 to October 20, according to Redfin’s records.
