Rental barometer: Chicago for $1,300 or less

Let’s start at $1,300 and work our way down the apartment ladder. A 725-square-foot one-bedroom at 1100 N. Dearborn St. in the Gold Coast is going for $1,300 (floor plan above). Notice the subtle difference between the closets and the dressing closet.

For $1,285, a 709-square-foot two-bedroom is available at 5550 S Dorchester Ave, in Hyde Park (shown below).

And in Andersonville, $1,250 will get you a two-bedroom in the building shown below, at 1716 W Farragut Ave.
