What’s the best way to find an apartment in Bucktown?

by Joe Zekas on 3/12/13

You can drive yourself bonkers searching for a Bucktown apartment on Craigslist or working with apartment rental services, or you can take a smart approach: just go to Bucktown, and bike or drive the streets looking for FOR RENT signs. Supplement your efforts by searching MLS-listed rentals at a reputable brokerage firm’s website.

Joe Askins and I did just that two years ago, and you can see the results in our videos. The summary:

In just over half an hour, we found 17 Bucktown properties for rent, either advertising themselves by signage or through listings on the MLS. Surely that’s a lot more than we could have found if we’d spent the same amount of time on Craigslist, wading through thousands of bait-and-switch ads from rental services.
