Wilmette’s winter wonderland annoys a neighbor

A year ago I wrote the following about a Wilmette home at the northeast corner of Cleveland and Thornwood:

Wilmette resident Steve Maris has outfitted his home with an array of Christmas figures and more than 50,000 lights computer-controlled by more than 300 separate channels. Maris puts on the show, in part, for the benefit of Lurie Children’s Hospital, and to the delight of all who experience it.

One neighbor, according to a report in Wilmette Life, is less than delighted with the traffic and noise generated by the display. The Village of Wilmette has taken a hands-off approach to what, to its credit, it deems merely a dispute between neighbors.

The show is worth a drive to Wilmette. Your kids will love it, and so will the kid in you.
