YoChicago wishes you a happy new year

And we wish you a healthy and prosperous new year, according to your personal measure of prosperity.

Part of what makes us happy is not following the journalistic tradition of burdening our readers with roundups of the year’s most important developments or trends, or portents of those to come. We revel in the notion that the new playlot across the street from you, or the closing of a local liquor store, may be the most important real estate development in your Chicago.

The end of a year is a time for reminiscing, thus the videos. My kids and I were 100 yards from Big Ben in London to greet the new millennium. When I was a kid, one of my dad’s favorites was Strauss’ Radetzky March, a seasonal tradition that made his eyes sparkle like fireworks.
