15 South Racine, West Loop, Chicago

My attempts at visiting 15 South Racine, the contemporary eight-unit condo development at 15 S Racine Ave in the West Loop, have been unsuccessful so far, but thanks to Craigslist and the MLS, it’s still possible to have a look inside and find out what’s still for sale from the comfort of my desk.

A handful of Craigslist ads have been posted by Quest Realty agents Jason Vondrachek and Scott Sasse for 15 South Racine that all say, “Only 3 Left!” The three condos retrieved by an MLS search are all three-bedroom / two-baths with 1,800 square feet of floor space, and they’re priced from the $570s to the $640s.

According to the Craigslist ads, garage parking spaces are priced at $30,000, and the homes can be delivered within 30 days.

At the bottom of some of the ads, a little teaser can be found: “If these units pique your interest, Summer 2009 will deliver even bigger units similar to these in West Loop.”

Summer 2009 is upon us, and I don’t know of any other new-construction developments that are under construction in the West Loop, but a new placeholder has been added to the Quest Realty Web site for 1020 West Madison, so we’ll keep an eye on that site in the coming months.

  • 1020 W Madison – Maybe they bought (or are buying) the property on Racine/Madison formerly owned by Thrush….or possibly the property next to Mod where Phase two is (was) planned…Those are the only two parcels of land that come to mind.

  • I believe 1020 W Madison is that parcel of land on the northwest corner of Madison/Morgan, across the street from the Starbucks

I recently noticed that the old fencing has been replaced and that valet cars from Wishbone are no longer parking there.

  • Oh, that makes sense. I think of it that slot is indeed open and just a a few blocks east of where I was referencing. Being a West Loop owner/resident I’m just hoping that the vacant lots evolve into something of quality, regardless of the block that they are on! Relief from more nail salons and dry cleaners would be nice too….
