The Windermere House, 1642 E 56th St, has an enviable location a short distance from Lake Shore Drive and a Metra station, fronting the Museum of Science and Industry and Jackson Park. It’s a few minutes walk from the University of Chicago.
The landmark building was built as a grand hotel in 1923, and converted to rental apartments in the early 1980s.
Last week the building’s manager, Paul Schultz, took me and Joe Askins on a sponsored tour of the property. You can meet some of the residents in this sponsored video from the Windermere House holiday residents’ party.
