The location
2051 North Sedgwick is on a quiet, tree-lined street two short blocks from the 1,200-acre Lincoln Park, one of the greatest public spaces in America. The immediate area is home to an outstanding array of bars and restaurants.
It’s almost impossible to overestimate the attractiveness of living around the corner from Lincoln Park.
The building’s location affords it quick access to many of the most popular attractions in the park, including the free Zoo, one of only two major free zoos in the country.
Shopping. 2051 North Sedgwick has decent proximity to grocery shopping.
Carnival Foods, a neighborhood grocer, is a short block west of 2051 North Sedgwick. The upscale Mrs Green’s, a recent arrival to the area, is a long block past Carnival, at Lincoln and Webster.
From early May to late October, more than 50 farmers draw Wednesday and Saturday morning crowds to the Green City Market in the park, just southeast of 2051 North Sedgwick.
A CVS pharmacy is a block south at Armitage Ave.
There’s a smattering of boutiques and other retailing along Wells St, but retail access isn’t one of the property’s strong suits. Oak Street‘s glamorous boutiques and Michigan Ave’s Magnificent Mile shops are over a mile south of the property. The big-box stores of the Clybourn Corridor are a mile-and-a-half southwest.
Dining, nightlife, entertainment.
You’re not going to find the city’s hottest restaurants and bars near 2051 North Sedgwick, but you will find far more than enough long-time favorites to keep dining and drinking close to home.
Stanley’s Kitchen, Sedgwick’s, Gamekeepers and River Shannon are some of the options you’ll find along Armitage Ave, a block south of the building.
Lincoln Ave north of 2051 North Sedgwick is packed with a wide variety of restaurants, bars and entertainment venues, including Lion Head Pub, O’Malley’s West, John Barleycorn and the Original Potbelly.
The immediate neighborhood hosts a number of street fairs and festivals in the summer, including the Taste of Lincoln Avenue and the spectacular Old Town Art Fair, now in its 65th year.
Parks, recreation.
Lincoln Park has too many attractions to list.
The park has virtually every recreational opportunity you can imagine, from North Avenue Beach to a tranquil nature boardwalk, all easily accessible to 2051 North Sedgwick residents. Castaways Bar & Grill at North Avenue Beach is eight-tenths of a mile and a 16-minute walk from 2051 North Sedgwick.
Oz Park, which has tennis courts, a basketball court, ball fields and a gym, is two blocks west of the building.
Transportation. 2051 North Sedgwick’s access to public transportation is good, but not great.
Several CTA bus routes stop around the corner on Clark St and several more are a short distance away in the park.
The nearest CTA train stops are at Fullerton and Sedgwick, a 17- and 13-minute walk, respectively, from 2051 North Sedgwick.
Taxi service is nearly always instantaneously available around the corner on Clark St. A Zipcar car-sharing location is nearby.
Access to I-90/94 and the city’s expressway grid is inconvenient, and can be very time-consuming during peak hours.
The competition
Rentals are typically available in a number of smaller nearby buildings just off the park and in condo buildings in the area.
