YoChicago reader Jeff Key commented that he thought the Belgravia Group might be constructing a Frankenbuilding at 565 Quincy, and asked us to provide other examples of ambitious pastiche projects. Off the top of our heads we can think of The Heritage and The Legacy (at Millennium Park), both of which incorporate historic facades at their bases and have drawn admiration and criticism. The renderings for both buildings don’t show the facade details, so we’ll have to get our cameras out and head for The Heritage.
But we thought you might like to see the rendering for 565 Quincy, which just landed in our Inbox. We too fear that Belgravia is creating a monster. We’ll be talking to the company about its new project this week, so we’ll give you an update when we find out more about the kinds of materials Belgravia plans to use.
