But wait, there’s more: Earlier we told you about Eastgate Village, but there are several mixed-use projects planned for underutilized land that will bridge the South Loop and the Near South Side. And we’ve heard a whisper that they will even welcome old people…
The 62-acre Riverside District will allegedly open sales this year or next, on a site bounded by Roosevelt Road, Clark Street, the river and 16th Street (we say allegedly because the development has been bogged down with all kinds of dramas). It’s a 10-year project involving up to 670,000 square feet of retail, parks, plazas, high-rise condos, townhomes and single-family homes.
Then there is Prairie Station, which will include cinemas, hotels, restaurants, a high-rise, a loft project and more. Prairie Station, put together by a consortium including developer Bill Warman, is well underway between 21st Street and Prairie Avenue.
