Want to sell your home during the frigid Chicago winter? Hang a sexy oil painting

We’ve talked a lot this week about a possible slowdown in the Chicago housing market, but what about the effect that winter has on the market? Winter is generally the slowest real estate season of the year but that doesn’t mean sellers should give up hope, according to Don DeBat, who canvassed the experts for the useful – and sometimes funny – advice contained in his column in the winter edition of New Homes Magazine, which hits the streets tomorrow and is available online today.

Debat reports that Chicagoland sellers can add as much as 20 percent to the value of their homes if they spend a little time and money on landscaping.

Another tip for winter sellers: the bedroom should look sexy and soft – so make sure there’s a satin negligee hanging in the closet.
