Oprah has splashed out the mega-bucks for a 5,000-square-foot condo on the sixth floor of a tony vintage 12-story building on East Lake Shore Drive, according to the Sun-Times (click through for a photo of the building). The unit, which includes a library, a solarium and loads of lake views, was listed for $6.2 million and it’s not clear how much Oprah (pictured here with Elmo) paid for it, although the newspaper’s headline indicates she laid out about $7 million. The building, which was converted to condos in 1995, has been home to a few other famous Chicagoans, including the late actor John Candy, according to the Sun-Times.
